Increase my homeowner's to cover new renovations?

I have had a lot of renovations done to my house in the first year that I've owned it. I've put about $45,000 into it and had a $5,000 shed added to the lot as well. Will I have to sign a new policy to increase the coverage on my homeowner's insuranc?

You don't have to sign a new policy but you should contact your agent to increase your coverage. In the event of a disaster you want to ensure you can recoup the cost of your hard work and money you have put into your renovations. Most likely you won't even need a new appraisal.

Good luck!

Oh and make sure you calculate any additional furniture into your estimate of coverage needed.
